I am so excited to welcome my longtime friend Cait. We have known each other since 8th grade, and she is also a client of mine. Cait spent a lot of time struggling with the demands of motherhood and not feeling fulfilled in her job. While she knew she had a blessed life, she wasn’t truly enjoying it and felt the need for a change.
Since I already knew her story on such a personal level, she decided to hire me as her coach. She already went to therapy, but she found that her therapy sessions typically revisited past traumas, and she was looking for actionable steps to take to make changes in her life and move forward. She knew I could be the person to take her out of the slump and guide her toward where she wanted to go.
The Transformative Power of Journaling
During our time together, we worked on different mindset techniques, including journaling. Cait is a writer, she has a degree in journalism and yet she felt this physical resistance to journaling. In fact, the first day she journaled, she wrote, “I do not want to be doing this.”
Once she took the pressure off of herself and knew it didn’t have to be perfect, she actually found journaling super helpful. Not only did it get her to recognize what was going on in her mind subconsciously, but it also let her know the things she needed to work on.
The other cool thing journaling helped Cait do was manifest her dream job. I challenged her to journal about the type of job she wanted. The type of environment she would want to work in. What she would want to do throughout her day. The kind of people she worked with. She did this exercise, and literally within 2 weeks, she got that job.
I want to remind everyone that journaling is not going to solve your problems, but it does help you face the issues and see the recurring themes. From there it’s about putting in the work to see the growth.
Shifting to Gratitude
Another huge part of our working together revolved around practicing gratitude and focusing on the positive things in her life rather than looking at the negatives. She was able to stop and find things to be grateful for in the moment and really appreciate the present, and it completely transformed the way she experiences her life on a daily basis.
How mindset coaching has changed Cait’s life
Ever since working together, Cait went from knowing she has a blessed life, but not truly enjoying it, to feeling lighter, happier, and so much more fulfilled.
