THE PODCAST | 1:1 COACHING | INSTAGRAM
Is there something you’ve been wanting to do for a long time, but haven’t had the courage to do it? When you put something off, it’s usually due to the thoughts of “What if?” “What if nobody listens?” “What if I do it wrong?” However, I am somebody who likes to go for the “Why not?”
With that mindset, I decided to commit to going live on Instagram every weekday, knowing that if I stayed consistent, I would continue to gain confidence.
Facing the fear of visibility
Going live was never about getting new clients. It was all about practicing visibility and getting out of my own way. I’ve always shied away from being seen, worried about being judged or getting negative reactions. However, I’ve been doing this for almost a full month now, and showing up consistently has allowed me to build trust with both myself and my audience.
Redefining success
Success comes in so many different forms. Typically, we look at success when it comes to our career or the amount of money we have, and it can be, but that’s not always the case. For me, success was about showing up live every single day period. It was about practicing resilience and pushing through the discomfort. On January 1st, I debated about not going live, but I knew that if I didn’t do it, it would just lead to disappointment.
So, I removed those fears of being imperfect and I just started. After almost a month of going live, I’m still going strong. I have connected with others, shared positivity, and received so much encouragement from the people who have been watching.
Consistency vs. Perfection
If we are being honest with ourselves, perfectionism is an avoidance tactic, and that can get in the way of growth. My past self was such a perfectionist, so I decided that this time, I was going to focus on consistency. It didn’t matter to me if I was showing up perfectly each day because I knew the consistency I created was going to serve me so much better than it being perfect.
Taking the first step
We all have something in our lives that we want to overcome. These fears and doubts that are holding you back are valid, but they don’t define you. Sometimes, the only thing standing in your way is simply showing up. So, think about what you want to do, and then figure out that one small step you can take. Before you know it, you’ll look back and realize just how far you’ve come and you’ll be so glad you started.
Final Thoughts
I would love to know how you plan on showing up for yourself. Send me a DM because I would love to help create that accountability for you. And if you know someone who might benefit from this, please share it with them. All it takes is one person hearing the message they need to hear at just the right moment.
