THE PODCAST | 1:1 COACHING | INSTAGRAM
As a podcast host, I’m constantly amazed by the wisdom that emerges from authentic conversations. In this episode of Intentional, I had the pleasure of speaking with Tylynn Mackenzie, a multifaceted healer and owner of Temple Radiance in Los Angeles. Our discussion revealed powerful insights about embracing a beginner’s mindset in business, even when you’re established in your field.

The Challenge of Scaling with Soul
Tylynn came to me with a familiar entrepreneurial challenge: transitioning from successful one-on-one work to group offerings. Despite having a thriving practice offering massage therapy, Reiki healing, astrology readings, and more, she found herself struggling to fill her group yoga massage classes. This is where the power of a beginner’s mindset became evident.
Returning to Our Entrepreneurial Roots
During our conversation, we explored how Tylynn had built her initial success in Minnesota. She shared how she’d used Groupon and built connections with the Mayo Clinic to grow her business. What struck me was how this earlier version of herself had been so willing to try new approaches and put herself out there.
The Hidden Resistance of Success
Sometimes, our very success can become a barrier to growth. As we discussed Tylynn’s situation, it became clear that achieving a certain level of success can make us hesitant to return to those early business-building activities. We might think, “I’m beyond that now” or “That’s not aligned with where I am.” But this thinking can hold us back from reaching new levels of impact.
Embracing Face-to-Face Connection in a Digital Age
One of my biggest recommendations for Tylynn was to consider a more grassroots approach to building her group practice. In our digital age, it’s easy to get caught up in social media metrics and online marketing. However, there’s still immense power in face-to-face connections and community building.
The Courage to Begin Again
What I love about Tylynn’s response was her immediate recognition that this approach – while intimidating – felt aligned with what her spirit had been nudging her toward. As an introvert myself, I could relate to her hesitation about putting herself out there. But sometimes, our greatest growth comes from facing these moments of discomfort with a beginner’s mindset.
Moving Forward with Intention
The beauty of adopting a beginner’s mindset isn’t about dismissing our expertise or experience. Instead, it’s about remaining open to new approaches and being willing to start fresh in new areas of growth. For Tylynn, this means taking her healing work into corporate spaces and building community connections in LA, even if it means starting with small steps.
Final Thoughts
This conversation reminded me that success isn’t always about moving forward in a linear fashion. Sometimes, it’s about being willing to circle back, to approach things with fresh eyes, and to embrace the vulnerability of being a beginner again. As Tylynn so beautifully put it, if we’re not fully putting ourselves out there, we’re dimming our light – and that goes against everything we stand for as entrepreneurs.
Remember, whether you’re just starting out or you’re looking to scale your business, there’s power in maintaining a beginner’s mindset. It keeps us humble, curious, and open to the possibilities that might just lead to our next level of growth.
