Do you feel like no matter what you accomplish, it’s just never enough? Almost like you’re constantly moving the goalpost, always chasing the next thing, but never stopping to appreciate how far you’ve come? If so, you’re not alone. Perfectionism can get us stuck in this cycle, making it hard for us to take action or to feel truly satisfied with our progress.

During this coaching session, I sit down with my friend Tori Worthing where we dig into perfectionism, self-doubt, and the pressure to always do more. Tori works in real estate and knows what it’s like to feel like she’s never quite measuring up, despite all of the growth she has experienced in her business. Together, we unpack why we’re so hard on ourselves, the importance of celebrating our wins, and how shifting our perspective can help us move forward with more confidence and ease.

The Perfectionism Trap

As high achievers, we tend to find ourselves in this perfectionism trap. It’s super common, especially for business owners who juggle so many expectations and goals. Despite how much the business has grown and changed over the last few years, the numbers-driven nature of her field has created this pressure and has pushed her toward a cycle of never feeling like she’s doing enough.

However, the conversation goes even further than the numbers. We talk about the importance of redefining what “enough” actually is. I ask her, “What is truly enough?” From that question, we start to peel back the layers of the self-imposed pressure to meet continually shifting benchmarks.

Recognizing Consistent Growth

A breakthrough Tori has is acknowledging consistent growth, no matter how big or small. Tori reflects on the journey of her real estate business and recognizes the small wins, systems improvements, and entrepreneurial leaps she has made. This consistent growth becomes a huge anchor in transforming her outlook.

The Power of Celebration

Through our conversation, we discuss the importance of having a celebration practice. Yes, we can celebrate obvious successes, but we also talk about how celebrating a mindfulness practice that shifts focus to the incremental progress we often overlook.

We come up with some ways for Tori to cultivate a habit of celebration. One idea is through habit stacking, which she can integrate by incorporating it with a daily routine, like making coffee. This practice can help turn a simple moment into a time of reflection and acknowledgement.

Tori and I also talk about involving her business partner in this practice, creating accountability and mutual encouragement. By starting their daily check-in calls on a positive note, they can keep themselves focused on what’s going well in their business.

Growth Through Reflection

Ultimately, the session leads Tori to realize that a simple shift in perspective and taking intentional time to acknowledge personal milestones can help propel you forward in both your life and your business. Celebrating past achievements, coming up with new goals, and moving with a mindset of abundance can change the way we approach our daily lives.

Final Thoughts: Are You Celebrating Your Own Growth?

When was the last time you celebrated your achievements, no matter how small? Whether you feel weighed down by perfectionism or simply wish to propel your growth further, I encourage you to develop your own celebration practice. Embrace this ritual, and it may just lead you to your next level.
