THE PODCAST | 1:1 COACHING | INSTAGRAM
Are you feeling overwhelmed with this already busy time of year and the pressure to set big New Year’s goals? What if you could approach the next year with more peace and clarity, simply by reflecting on this one?
This time of year is typically the time when we decide we’re going to change everything about our businesses or our lives, but sometimes those goals don’t get met. I want you to know that just because those goals aren’t met, doesn’t mean we’re failures. It just means that the goal wasn’t aligned, or maybe it’s just as simple as needing some accountability.
I want to let you in on what I do for the end of the year, so you can go into the next year being fully present, knowing exactly what you loved about this this year, and what you want to change moving forward.
Taking time for reflection
This is something we don’t do enough, but reflection is crucial for your growth. It helps you know where you’ve been, what you’ve done, and what you want to take with you. I would encourage you to get a journal and just think back to both your wins and challenges for this year, whether they were big or small.
Here are some of my wins for the year:
- I completely came into coaching and have helped so many women take back their power and build confidence.
- I started working with my own coach.
- My husband and I have learned how to navigate starting 2 businesses in a new place.
Reflecting on our wins makes us realize there’s so much more to life than just focusing on the challenges. At the same time, be sure to acknowledge the challenges without any judgment. Because the reality is, challenges help you learn and grow. And looking at it from that lens will help you move into the new year with a lot less pressure on yourself.
Let go of what no longer serves you
As you reflect back on this year, there may be some relationships or activities that don’t align with your current path. It could be a client you need to say goodbye to. Maybe it’s a friendship you need to let go of. Or maybe it’s a marketing plan that is causing you anxiety. While it can be scary to do, letting go of what doesn’t align with you anymore could be that one piece that could shift everything for your life.
Creating calm in the chaos
Life feels chaotic for so many of us, and it’s essential to find what can help you achieve a sense of calm. For some, it may be meditation or journaling. For others, it could be setting firm boundaries. Whatever it is, finding what works best for you can help you switch out of a stress state into a creative state. And it doesn’t have to be something big. The smallest things can make the biggest impact.
For me, it’s deep breathing, and one of the first techniques I learned when I started breathwork was box breathing. This is where you inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, breathe out for 4 seconds, and hold for 4 seconds. This can help bring calm and clarity into your mind and body.
Final thoughts
Reflecting, releasing, and creating calm isn’t just about clearing the way for success, but for living more creatively and peacefully. Remember that doing less can sometimes lead you to more profound discoveries and growth.
I truly hope you had a really good year and I hope you take the time to reflect and go into this new year with the best energy that you can.
