Introducing Destiny Kitchen who is a business owner who has personally made many pivots or moves to quit something in her life. Through that she realized each move she made had a common theme of being of service to others. We’re diving into the feelings that surround quitting in today’s episode.

The Decision to quit and move on

Through all the changes in jobs there was always a common theme of starting off positive but as time would go on little things would come up that weren’t aligned and by the end it was a quick decision. Destiny talks about after pushing through and dealing with things a bit too long, that when it came time to quit was a quick move.

She trusts her intuition to know what is no longer for her anymore, and doesn’t waste time being stuck somewhere she doesn’t want to be. Although we can feel ready and at peace with our choice it’s sometimes hard to share that to those close to us. Especially when they may have different views on what’s a “smart move”.

Destiny brought up how it was difficult to share with her family because she knew that maybe she wasn’t going about things in the way that they might have wanted her to. Especially when her first was born and she was a single parent.

When she was working at the more traditionally stable jobs there was the conversations around not letting go of the “good job”. She says ” It’s definitely a journey every time I have to be like, hi, I’m gonna do something different. And when you start something different, you kinda gotta start at the bottom. And I’m all for working my way up, but feeling like you’re starting over every time.”

The Shame around Quitting

She shares that she would say to herself “why can’t you stick to something? Why can’t you just pick a thing and do the thing like everybody else? Why can’t you be like everybody else?” It became her thing. She would decide she was done before that rush of excitement for the next thing came along.

Since then, she realized that every place she was in, she should have been in for that moment. And when that moment left was when she was supposed to leave. She wouldn’t be where she is without all of those moments.

What got me started on the mindset journey

I’ll share this is that started me on more of like the mindset journey is the book Super Attractor by Gabby Bernstein. It’s a good one and I frequently go back to it. So I really just wanted to share that that’s like one of the things that I think helps me in my mindset. I did it like in a book club with one of my other business friends and it really…

like the basic principles literally in chapter one where she talks about just like choosing again, like choose another thought. Notice that thought and just pick a different one. It doesn’t even have to be the best one you can think of, but just choose a different one. I think has helped immensely in journaling. Reading books like that and journaling have helped, but yeah, overall you can find me on Instagram at destinyk .co or my website is just destinyk .co.
