You might be thinking, “How could I ever do a boudoir session when I don’t feel comfortable with my body?” I’ll let you know, I’ve got you covered.
Boudoir is made of multiple moving parts to make sure that you absolutely love your images. Starting with what you choose to wear for your session.
Wardrobe
First of all, I want you to wear things you feel comfortable in and that feel like you. If you wouldn’t even consider lace lingerie – don’t bring it! And if there’s a part of your body that you don’t love as much, we can use your wardrobe very creatively to showcase the areas you do love.
I know that feeling as a woman – of being very aware of our bodies. For example, I know that if you bring your favorite jeans to your shoot, you’ll be worried about your stomach pushing over the top when you sit down. We all feel it and you certainly don’t need to be uncomfortable about it. You can do the classic tug and pull that always happens when we sit. I know you know the one!
Here’s the thing, I show you the poses first and even tell you about those little things to keep in mind. I want the conversation to be very open around any insecurities because that helps me create images for you that you love. I know a session with me doesn’t entirely erase the insecurity, but it definitely helps you see it differently – usually with kinder eyes.

Posing
Once we nail down the boudoir outfits that you feel so excited to wear, you get in front of the camera. But not in the way you’re thinking. You’ll never be left wondering what to do or where to look because I talk you through allll of it. I show you every pose first, along with variations to make it your own. There’s no pressure to show me your best model moves, but the more you feel into the movements, the better!
No one wants the classic ‘hand frozen in the hair, staring off into the distance’ photos and there’s no way that’s happening here! I’ll direct and shoot until I can tell you’re feeling comfortable – or just make you laugh and get rid of any pressure!
When you stand in front of the mirror, you see a very different version than what I see with my camera. I’m sure you’re not standing in a flattering pose when you’re dishing out all the “compliments” you’re usually giving yourself.
However, if I’m there to tell you to pull your shoulders back, sink into one hip, cross your knee over, pop your toe, soften your fingers (yes, it’s a lot!), you’ll be so surprised with the different image you see in front of you. Posing is everything.

Lighting
I know I said posing is everything, but lighting is the extremely supportive best friend. No one, and I mean no one, can hide everything in harsh, direct lighting. Not only do I love the drama and contrast of using the light the way I do, it can really camouflage anything you might not be trying to show off. So if you look at some of my photos and think, “I could never look like that,” just know that a lot of those clients can’t even believe that they’re looking at themselves.
When all of it comes together and you have a photographer who makes you feel comfortable through it all, that’s when the magic happens. I know it takes a good amount of trust to put yourself out there in this way, but you will be so so happy you did!
